I am an empathetic tutor who has been a student with ADHD and learning disabilities. Because of these difficulties in my life, I have become a lifelong learner who understands and sympathizes with other students who struggle with these issues. I have a passion for learning, and I hope to share that passion with the students I work with.If I were to describe my tutoring style, it would be like that of a personal trainer. Since each student is different, I work to decipher what my student might be thinking at that particular moment, and then adapt my own style as quickly as possible. When I am teaching a student, I am simultaneously teaching or re-teaching that same information to myself. I find this entertaining, and it also helps me to grasp the dynamics of the subject as a student would. I believe that strong stories can help students understand a topic, and utilize them whenever possible. I try to make my lessons fun to keep students interested in the work we're doing. I incorporate technology into my lessons, utilize creative writing processes, and work in a little mythology and folklore when I can.In my free time, I like to read, write, garden, and work out.
